Dragon Scales The shivering scale Watches, pale, A sailing dragon from the East. The scale atoned, Balance unknown, When the heart and passions feast. To the worthy beast My gates released, I hear the stoics groan. The Yogis sigh For it is not I who denies Passion’s home. In indifference alone, In stillness of stone, Pleasures of everlasting supply. Yet my very soul, with self-control, Such indifference does defy. A heart denied Is a soul that died; The spirit shivers without its coal. Passions placed, Dragons embraced, The spirit graced and laced the whole.
